Rhys is a skeptical activist with a thing for alternative medicine and tackling big quacks. He was given the Grassroots Skeptic Award at TAM London in 2010, after exposing Miracle Mineral Solution – an alternative treatment for Crohn’s disease – on the internet.
Last year, the Texan Burzynski clinic threatened him with a libel case when he wrote about expensive ‘antineoplaston’ therapy it offered for life threatening cancers. (They didn’t follow through on that threat.) He’s since written for Comment is free, and talked in the mean time to various skeptical groups, including Skeptics in the Pub groups and ThinkCon 2011.
